Product Features
1. Antioxidant
The core active ingredients of black sesame extract, sesamin and sesamol, have the effect of scavenging free radicals and activating antioxidant pathways. One experiment showed that black sesame extract's ability to scavenge DPPH free radicals is superior to vitamin C, and its efficiency in inhibiting lipid peroxidation can reach over 80%. In another human experiment, daily consumption of black sesame for 4 weeks resulted in a decrease in serum oxidative damage markers and an increase in antioxidant enzyme activity.
2. Regulating Cardiovascular Function
Experiments showed that sesamin can inhibit the activity of HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol synthesis, thus reducing endogenous cholesterol production. In patients with hyperlipidemia, daily intake of a product containing 80mg of sesamin resulted in a decrease in total cholesterol, a reduction in low-density lipoprotein, and an increase in high-density lipoprotein after 12 weeks. Sesamin affects the expression of lipid metabolism-related genes by regulating the AMPK and PPAR signaling pathways.
